Race to the Top Results for First Round Announced
.

Dear DCPS Staff,
Over the past few weeks, we have been anxiously awaiting the results of the first round of the national Race to the Top (RTTT) competition, President Obama’s $4 billion investment in education reform. We have finally received word that we will not receive a first-round award.
While this is disappointing, overall we were one of 16 finalists among 41 states in the competition. We are determined to reshape our application and submit for Phase Two. We will work on this, as we have on our Phase One application, with OSSE, public charter schools, and the State Board of Education. I will keep you informed of our progress.
I have high hopes for the success of a subsequent submission because, thanks to the work of so many of you, our students—and our school system—are making solid gains.
Our race to the top is not over yet!
